What is an Insurance Backed Guarantee for Glazing?
Under the changes in the Building Regulations that came into effect in April 2002, every consumer must be offered the opportunity to purchase an insurance policy to cover their installer's guarantee/warranty should the installer, for some reason, be unable to fulfil its guarantee obligations.
What does it cover me for?
Our 10 year Guarantee Insurance covers all that the Installer offer in their own warranty/guarantee, but will become operational in the event that they cease to trade within the period of insurance. It also covers for any deposit that you have paid to the Installation Company for up to 25% of the contract price or £6,250 whichever is the lesser.
How do GGFi pick their installers?
In everybodys interest, GGFi and our Underwriters have a strict vetting policy before we can approve any Tradesman onto our system.
Who underwrites the GGFi policies?
GGFi policies are underwritten by IGI insurance company and Redsands Europe.
How do I make a claim under the policy?
You can notify us of a claim either by using the online registration click here or alternatively telephone us on 0870 850 8281 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday (Excluding bank Holidays).
Would I receive compensation if the underwriters were unable to meet its liabilities?
You may be entitled to compensation from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), if underwriters cannot meet their liabilities under your policy. The level of compensation provided by the FSCS is that the first £2,000 of a claim or policy is protected in full, above this threshold, 90% of the rest of the claim will be met. Further information is available from the FSCS on 0207 892 7300 or at enquiries@fscs.org.uk.
